While I personally enjoy 2 more than 1, I agree with your points and the designs of the games are fairly different. This makes me absolutely scared to pop the third game into my PlayStation. I realize this game is hailed by many to be the best, but I just can't get on this train. I don't understand how this game has made itself so different from the first one, but it did not go in a great direction for me. I end up skipping dialogue because it got so cringy. While in the first game only a few levels stuck out as terrible, I find myself going through the motions to finish the game and no world has made me feel any sort of thrill. Although the worlds in the first game were smaller, it felt more meaningful and more platforms to climb or things to do within these smaller areas. Even revisted world from the first game like Agarbah made me think "really? This is it?". The worlds feel like big empty lots with nothing to do. I enjoy Dark Souls, but not getting one-shotted from a regular enemy, so thus I have kept this on standard difficulty. I reached the age where I do not really want to set it to the most challenging due to how many games I conquer, but I do like a fine difficulty balance. Before anyone says set it to the hardest mode, I did that in Kingdom Hearts 1, enjoyed it but am still stuck at the final boss. I had to look back and see what difficulty setting I was on to make sure I did not accidentally press "easy" because the standard felt far too easy. There feels like less technique to the game and strategy. The combat feels like that damn triangle button moves are just a waste of time. I remember thinking this game was good, and feel that childhood me must have been too excited for the game to realize how flawed it is. Playing the second one feels like a slap in the face. I have played that game around once a year since I can remember and enjoy the story and worlds so much. I must say I absolutely LOVE the first Kingdom Hearts. Having one week to beat it, I plowed through the game and to this day, prior to replaying it all I could remember was you could be a lion and the intro was "weird".įast forward to today, I decided to replay the entire series, well that and my boyfriend pointed out the fact I got Kingdom Hearts 3 at a midnight release and STILL have no played it yet, cue the typical patient gamer right there.

I played this when Blockbuster was a thing and I remember rushing through this game as my mom was a firm believer in not extending the time on a rented game. I have played Kingdom Hearts 2 before, but I was so young that I did not remember mostly any of it. The Final Mix version of the game was re-released in high definition for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix for the PlayStation 3, along with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.I do hope I do not get dragged in the mud for this post or told this does not count as patientgamers. By April 2007, the game had shipped over four million copies worldwide. One month after its North American release, it had sold over one million copies and was the second best-selling game of 2006. In Japan, it shipped more than one million copies within a week of its release. The game was well-received and earned year-end awards from numerous video gaming websites. Organization XIII, a group introduced in Chain of Memories, reappears to impede Sora's progress. Like the previous games, Kingdom Hearts II features a large cast of characters from Disney films and Final Fantasy games. Sora, the protagonist of the first two games, returns to search for his lost friends. It picks up one year after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Kingdom Hearts II is the third game in the Kingdom Hearts series.
